Thursday May 17th @ Mulligan’s

Thanks again to Sam & Karen for putting together the show at The 106 Gallery a couple weekends ago.  It was good to see our pal Jim in his new band Boilerman

Our next show is in just over two weeks.  On May 17th we’ll be playing at Mulligan’s once again.  Also playing will be The Fake Boys and American Gothic.  Click on the flyer below for all the pertinent info.

Last weekend and this weekend.

Last weekend:

Last weekend was a blast for all of us in PL.  On Friday we played Mulligan’s in GR with our Kzoo friends Terror! … Terror! … Oh, my! (btw, if you’re reading this, I will be abbreviating your band name from now until eternity) and some new acquaintances, The Fine Fine Titans.  The show was awesome and I was able to introduce another round of people to the Mulligan Stew.

On Sunday we made the trip down to Kalamazoo to play The Fat Guy House for the first time.  And it was awesome.  One Win Choice and Astpai both made a return trip to FGH for the show and both bands slayed.  As always, the guzzling of booze raged long into the night.  Some things never change.

THIS WEEKEND:

On Sunday night we’ll be playing at The 106 Gallery in GR, right across the street from The DAAC.  We’ll be playing with four other bands, including our friend Jim’s new band Boilerman.  The show starts at 7:30, so you’ll still have plenty of time to get home and sleep before work on Monday.  Check out all the pertinent info here:

In just under two weeks we’ll be back playing at Mulligan’s Otherside.  It’ll be our first time there since the new balcony has been installed.  I’m looking forward to seeing it and to dodging objects thrown from above.

This show is happening tomorrow night at Louie’s in Kalamazoo, with one change.  ‘61 Starliner has been replaced by Everyone and their Empty Cups.  This is our first time back in Kalamazoo since last year, and our new drummer’s first appearance in Kzoo with us.  Come out and welcome him in any way you see fit.

I just wanted to say thanks again to the dudes at the 616 ‘zine and to The Pyramid Scheme for the show a few weeks ago now.  It was a great time and went off without a hitch.  The next 616 issue will have a CD with it featuring a few live cuts from each band who played the show.  As a little preview to that, I’ve included a song here on our website, recorded at the show, that won’t be on the aforementioned CD.  It is called “Pop Punk Song for Mario Bourzac to Sing.”  (Hey, Frank and Earnest!  I’m looking at you!)

This Friday we are playing The Winter Punk Fest at The Pyramid Scheme, brought to you by the fine boys at the 616 Zine.  We will be opening the show, and subsequently shotgunning all of the free black labels, so none of the other bands have anything to drink for the rest of the night.  Click the picture above to RSVP to the show!

It’s getting late.

Okay, it’s getting late over here in Protected Left land, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet.

First off, thanks to all who came out to the show at Mulligan’s this past Friday.  It was our first time in Grand Rapids, as well as our new drummer Jason’s first show.  Everything went great.  Here’s hoping that’s a trend that continues.

Second, we have a show coming up this Saturday in good ‘ol Muskegon, MI.  We’ll be playing with our pals Terror! Terror! … Oh, My! who will also be rolling out to the show with us in our beloved van.  So, essentially, it will be a rolling party from one town to the next.  RSVP HERE!!

Finally, I found a review of our show in Indianapolis, IN last summer.  During the show we covered Propagandhi’s “Fuck Religion” and the reviewer mistakenly credited the song to us.  Flattered as I am, I just wanted to set that straight.  Anyway, you can find the review HERE.

PS - I have to learn to use that new tags feature.  Eventually.

The end of 2011

We have added a show at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids on February 10th.  You can R.S.V.P to the event at the following link: The Following Link.

And in other news …

Mario’s other band, Lenin/McCarthy, will be headed out on tour this week.  If you live anywhere in the tri-state area, they will most likely be coming through your town.  Check out the dates here.

E.P Review #3

Not much new news to report in the PL camp.  Chad is in school, Joe just saw NOFX last night in Chicago, and Mario is, presumably, riffing.  The one update we do have is another review of our debut ep Songs Of The Doomed, coming to you courtesy of Rockfreaks.net.

To read the full review, check it our here.
